are all your scrunchies made from vintage scarves?

- no! only the scrunchies that are in the specific "vintage silk" or "vegan silk" collections are made from hand sourced vintage scarves. the other collections include scrunchies made from carefully selected fabrics that i take pride in choosing because the fabric or the print is beautiful.
- if you are looking for custom scrunchies for your bridal party I can accommodate mosts requests as most major bridesmaid dress retailers offer the ability to purchase extra yards of fabric that match your chosen dresses.

what do you mean by "sustainable"?
- i consider the majority of my products "sustainable" since the fabric they are made from is hand picked from antique malls, thrifted, or estate sales. scarves in particular tend to sit around in thrift stores for extended periods of time, and if they don't sell in a certain time frame they are often thrown out with old merchandise or "donated" to other "poor" countries, aka sent to another country for them to deal with, which usually ends up in a landfill.
- silk in particular I consider sustainable since natural fibers always are better for the environment in the long run vs. man made alternatives. through natural wear and tear man made fabrics contribute to micro-plastics in our local water supplies/oceans and take much longer than natural fibers to breakdown.

what is vegan silk?
- vegan silk is similar to vegan leather, aka it's good marketing ;) it is a plastic man made alternative to natural fiber and can easily be manipulated through chemical processes to feel like silk.

my elastic snapped, what can I do?
- normal wear and tear is expected as with any item, and the lifetime of scrunchie depends on how often you wear it, 6-12 months is the average with a hair elastic, but with proper care it can last you much longer. reach out to madeline@madelinevasiliev.com and i will see what i can do to make the issue right.

how do i wash my scrunchies?
- hand wash with cold water and delicate detergent - air dry - unless otherwise noted on the product page

can you do custom orders?
